This Reason iPhone X Does Not Have a Home Button

The presence of iPhone X seized the attention of many people. Not only from the features and the selling price, but also about the design. This latest Apple smartphone does not have a physical Home button, different from all previous iPhone generations.

Apple's Chief Design Officer, Jony Ive, explains that removing the Home button is something a company should do. Without these changes, Apple would make a mistake.

Ive's later statement is judged to give Apple the impression that it wants to remain a trend and innovation leader. He is expected to judge that many mobile phone vendors will mimic this Apple move and release devices without the Home button and facial recognition features.

Ive also considered Apple is not a company that is afraid to take risks. "I actually think the way to rely on features that have been effective is the path that leads to failure, and in the short run, this is a less risky road and a safer path," he said.

The absence of the physical Home button on the iPhone X does suck the attention of many people. Not a few who criticize Apple for the change, and assume the absence of Home button and fingerprint sensor will greatly affect its use.

Ive admitted that change is not something that is easy to accept. Likewise with the absence of Home button and fingerprint sensor on the iPhone X. It usually happens on the features that have earned great success and received a lot of people.

"This is not necessarily the most comfortable place, when you believe there is a better way," Ive said.

Previously, the Home button on the iPhone was used by users to do many things, including opening a multi-tasking screen, accessing the Home screen, and unlocking the device with the fingerprint sensor, Touch ID, inside it. On the iPhone X, Apple replaces all of these functions with a variety of movements, including making a move shifting the screen from the bottom up to return to the Home screen.

The fingerprint sensor is completely replaced by the face scanning feature, Face ID. According to reports, this feature successfully attracted the attention of Android smartphone vendors and they plan to bring similar features for the latest products next year.
